Live Skype Video Conference with Design Farm Agency

This Spring (April 08) Web Design and Interactive Media students participated in live Skype video conference call with the Design Farm, a design agency in Tallahassee, Fl. WDIM alum Caleb Bell, who works at Design Farm, contacted Mr. Elander a couple of months earlier with the idea. Bell had discussed the call with his colleagues and they were all willing to share information and insights with students. On Wednesday, April 16th, industry professionals at Design farm gave students a closer look at life and work within the field and answered a number of questions. The session was well-received and will hopefully be the first of more sessions to come.

New Web Design and Interactive Media Website

We're happy to present to you the Web Design and Interactive Media Website. This site is intended to provide an orientation to the WDIM major. To this end, you will find information about the program, the program director, courses required, student work samples and more. I'd like to thank Tim Cox from the Harding Art Department for designing our great logo and IM students Jonathan Freese, Jason Housby and Keylor Campos for constructing this new site using Ruby on Rails. Great work guys!

Other features on the IM site include, a link to a sub-site for TreeBranch Studios, the Web Design and Interactive Media club, a web job board, recommended resources and a student profile section. Features will periodically change and others may be added later.

WDIM Alumni and current students will also have access to an WDIM members portion of the site accessible by login.

Recent WDIM Program Updates

We have added several new classes:

This Spring, (2008) we took our second trip (of hopefully many) to SXSW Interactive festival in Austin TX. This turned out to be a great networking opportunity for meeting people in the field, finding internships and learning about job openings. http://2008.sxsw.com/interactive/ I would encourage any WDIM majors to plan to attend SXSWi in their Junior and/or Senior years of school.

Tell us what you would like to see more of on our new site.
